Orange Sky Australia

Orange Sky have a simple formula; to provide a platform for every day Australians to connect through a regular laundry and shower service. The focus is on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community. Their volunteers are not social workers or experts on homelessness - they are empathetic listeners and great conversationalists. Initially we provided funding for a third laundry/shower van in Australia, to the Canberra community. Funding then pivoted to Orange Sky NT - to establish the vans in remote communities. The first van successfully launched in Maningrida - now considered the 'gold standard' of community-led operations. With improved access to regular laundry facilities to wash and dry clothes, linen and bedding, an Orange Sky service may contribute to improved health outcomes. The mobile facility may also act as a community hub for social connection, sharing of information, health screening, promotion and education programs.
