Overview
In 2018 we re-visited our support for raising the rate of Newstart with ACOSS and worked with a group of philanthropists to support the grass-roots campaign aimed at raising the rate of Newstart, which hadn’t been increased in real terms for 25 years. Raising the rate of the Newstart Allowance, the unemployment allowance, and related payments is the single most effective measure to reduce poverty levels for over one million Australians.
