We are thrilled to see the opening of Project Independence’s latest housing project at Phillip.

Project Independence empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities through independent living and home ownership of small units within a larger house space, financed through their Disability Support Pensions. Each unit includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, living space and courtyard.
Up to 10 residents will live at the Philip development, with additional accommodation for a live-in resident coordinator. The spaces are fresh and welcoming, creating plenty of social interaction blended with privacy for residents, most of whom are employed.
What makes this even more special is that the Phillip project is the third Project Independence housing project that The Snow Foundation has proudly supported.  The other two properties opened in Latham and Harrison in 2017.

The collaborative effort involving government, business, philanthropy and community underscores the broader commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. This collaboration highlights the significance of community engagement in ensuring the success of projects that champion the rights and aspirations of individuals with disabilities, a cause that The Snow Foundation has consistently championed.

Project Independence has plans to open housing ventures in both Melbourne and Sydney in the near future.
