Georgina Byron AM is Chief Executive Officer of Snow Foundation, a family philanthropic foundation. Since 2006, she has led the Foundation’s growth from its Canberra origins into a nationally recognised organisation supporting communities, leaders and systems change across Australia.
Underpinned by values of compassion, humility and generosity, Georgina brings a strong commitment to social justice and accountability. She has shaped the Foundation’s strategy, combining deep place-based partnerships in Canberra, Sydney and NSW with national efforts to address complex and often neglected challenges. Its major work spans Gender equality, First Nations justice, Youth education, LGBTIQ+ inclusion and Community resilience, alongside a focus on backing social change leaders and strengthening the for-purpose sector.
Georgina is a passionate advocate for gender equality, reconciliation and human rights. She has played a leadership role in major national reforms – marriage equality, the Raise the Rate campaign, the Voice Referendum, and initiatives to eliminate rheumatic heart disease and crusted scabies in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. She has also championed the growth of social impact investing, encouraging the use of all forms of capital to drive long-term outcomes.
She is Co-Chair of Deadly Hearts Ltd, Deputy Chair of Sydney Community Foundation, Chair of the Sydney Women’s Fund Advisory Council, a board member of Philanthropy Australia and an Ambassador for Australians Investing in Women. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Bachelor of Business and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment. In 2021, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.
Georgina lives in Sydney with her husband and four daughters and is a surf lifesaver at her local beach.
